A few things are still preferred, when they are done in the old fashioned way. A man paying for the meal is a sign of his chivalry, which really can go a long way in impressing your date.

Hi Shimrit

Our dating and social site Do-My, has just been soft launched and it’s fair to say we are embarking on a journey taken by many higher qualified than ourselves. One of my personal goals for our new dating site is to understand better the psyche of people when dating, and give those people back suggestions for more success. Having read the lion share of the views by authors and other sites across the internet, I feel the general public need better advice about themselves. I’m not talking about relationship counselling but more understanding their wants and how to get them.
I say this because many people I have spoken with about their requirements in a partner, have incredibly different requirements to the people they spend time with and get on with socially.
I’m just wondering whether we are a little distracted nowadays by the millions of views of others and not really focussing on what is important to us personally.
I scored some speed dating feedback once upon a time and it revealed very interesting results, in short it showed, at the beginning daters made a note of what they required in a potential partner, yet when the scores came in after the dating sessions, they got on with people that were nothing like their requirements, some really well. However do you know what, when they came back again the second time, the previous experience had not change their personal requirements of a potential partner at all! It was as if they hadn’t even consciously learned from the previous experience.
Are we listening to ourselves enough?
I have created an experiment on our website that is open to all; it asks the question "What are the most persuasive words in dating?" Give it ago the findings currently are quite interesting. I'll let you know how it progresses.
Thanks Nathan

As the owner of a niche website I have no qualms about members who want to join other dating sites. In fact, I'd encourage it. It is only when you've tried a few that you realise where you 'fit' in this online world of dating.

And bigger is not always best

Good advice - the 'take me as you find me', 'I'm just myself', 'I'm just a normal girl/guy' shrugg shoulders type comment does nothing to spark any interest whatsoever.

What I always find most off-putting in personal profiles people post on dating sites include the following:

-- bitterness from a previous relationship shines through

--someone's social background is utterly transparent, but they painfully try to sell themselves as 'classy' in a cheap way

--the 'don't contact me unless you are honest' - I'm scared for these people, its almost like they are lining themselves up to be done over by a con artist.

My favorite: video profiles where people just sit there and say nothing, or worse do their makeup in front of the camera - what does that tell me? If being able to put your lippy on straight gives any clear indication as to someone's character, maybe the boys need to do video profiles proving they can pee straight?

The trick that a lot of established dating sites use is to introduce new dating sites and to populate them with free trial members or temproary members that they migrate from their other dsting sites. A lot of dating sites are also tied in to together by using dating software which ties them in to sharing dating membership details with other users of the software. That way, each new dating site can be instantly populated.

If you want to steer clear of this practice, you are still going to need to grow your membership in order to be successful and this is much more important than generating advertising revenue. It doesn't matter if your dating site is on the top of Google,no one is going to pay to join unless there are plenty of other members to interact with, so you need a strategy.

You need the right marketing and the right hook for your dating site- say first few 1000s members free, next few thousand at a discount, or some other such deal, then you can grow over time, and get a good idea of the point at which you will see a return on investment on your dating site.

If you are intending to offer a free dating site then, its all a question of the discrepancy between your advertising income and your advertising spend plus other investments in your dating site. If you intend to make a profit from your dating site, or even just to break even - this one is beyond me. Plentyoffish have managed it, but dozens of other dating sites at least will have flopped

the reason why it's not working for them is because they are doing things which DON'T work.

Another reason why it doesn't work for some people is because they select the wrong site for what they're looking for...

and the biggest reason why it doesn't work for them is because they don't understand HOW to meet women online.

Average looking men, especially need to understand that they need to contact many women at a dating site to get a few responses. The most attractive women will be heavily sought after and the competition can be fierce. Best to be original to stand out.

I don't think so. Most american singles are using online dating site. Everyone can see more people from US than from UK. Check match.com, cupid.com, millionairecupid.com, and many more sites, you will find much more users are from US.
